I offer pop-up services at events such as fundraisers, parties, and private events. All haircutting services are priced at a discount, and fundraisers will receive a portion of the profits.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and every eye is different. It’s not only about how you look, but how you feel about yourself and how you fit into (or stand out from!) the world around you. I invite my clients to imagine beauty all their own.

Beauty

Hair is more than just about how you want to look, it’s about how you want to feel. I prioritize having collaborative conversations with my clients - I want to know who you are, how you want to move through the world, and what you love (and don’t love!). I want you to feel like yourself.

EXPRESSION

ACCESS

I operate on a sliding scale so that as many people as possible can access and embody their own beauty and expression. As a disabled person myself, I also offer a number of accommodations such as house calls, extra time in appointments for those unable to sit for long periods of time, and products and practices for those with sensory sensitivites.

phoenix’s work

phoenix’s story

In 2009 I picked up a pink body hair razor and hacked off my hair in a sophomore year dorm room. It wasn’t great, but surprisingly it wasn’t so bad either. Since that moment, friends, family, and partners have asked me to cut their hair either because they couldn’t afford professional hairdressing services or because they simply didn’t feel comfortable in salons.

After cutting the hair of my closest friends all through COVID quarantine in 2020 and 2021, I decided to expand my reach beyond my personal connections and began posting on social media offering to go to people’s houses to cut their hair.

Clients welcomed me into their homes, and we greeted each other with masked faces. Often I was their first guest in over a year. We sat together for an hour or more, sometimes with great excitement and chatter, and at other times in comfortable silence.

I met a lot of people that spring and summer. The time alone had given everyone an opportunity to reflect on who we are. Some clients wanted bold new styles. Some wanted to return to their signature looks that had long grown out. Some, like myself, had come out as trans and were looking for their first haircut that reflected who they now knew themselves to be. Across all of these situations, I found that the common thread is that people wanted to feel like themselves.

That’s what guides my practice.  You’re the one who wakes up with your hair every day. You’re the one who looks in the mirror. It’s my job to help you love what you see.
